🚀 2025 Life Planning: How to Build a Life That Feels Like Yours

Have you ever had a moment where you woke up, looked around, and thought: "Is this really the life I want?"

Not because things were bad. But because deep down, you knew you wanted something more—more alignment, more meaning, more life that felt like you.

Over the past decade, I've built a simple but powerful life planning system. It's helped me move countries, pivot careers, and stay true to who I'm becoming—even as my dreams and priorities keep evolving.

Today, I'm sharing the exact process I use every year to reflect, reset, and design a life I actually want to live.

Let’s get started.

 

Session 1: Look Back and Brainstorm

Step 1: Reflect on 2024 (30 min)

To move forward, first know where you stand.

Write down:

  • What went well? (Memorable experiences, feelings, goals achieved)

  • What could be improved? (What felt off? Where did you feel disconnected?)

Across these life areas:

  • Health (mind, body, spirit)

  • Finances

  • Purpose / Work

  • Personal Growth

  • Relationships (family, friends, community)

  • Environment / Home

  • Creativity, Education, Spirituality

  • Adventure, Travel, Fun

  • Volunteering, Service, Giving Back

 

Step 2: Dream Big (10 min)

Ask yourself:

  • If I had all the money in the world, what would I spend my life doing?

  • What will I regret not doing?

  • What does my ideal day, week, or month look like?

  • Where do I see myself 5 years from now?

👉🏽 Pro tip: Remove the "shoulds." Listen to your gut.

 

Session 2: Define Your Ideal Life

Step 1: Your Vision (1 hour)

Finish the sentence: "My life is ideal when..."

Write 1–3 sentences for each life category. Focus on the next 2 years—not 20. Stay connected to your present dreams.

Examples:

  • Work / Purpose: I’m innovating in health tech and education, helping people heal and grow using science, spirituality, and new technologies.

  • Health: I prioritize physical, mental, and emotional well-being—eating consistently, sleeping deeply, moving daily, and surrounding myself with environments that bring me peace and light.

👉🏽 Keep this vision flexible. It's allowed to change as you do.

 

Session 3: Identify the Gap

Step 1: Life Audit (15 min)

Look at each category and rate yourself from 1–5:

  • 1 = Not living this vision at all

  • 5 = Fully living it

 

Step 2: What Needs to Happen? (30 min)

For each category, brainstorm:

  • What are the next 1–2 steps to move closer to your ideal life?

👉🏽 Don't stress about timelines. Some dreams take years. Plant the seeds now.

 

Session 4: Set Priorities

Step 1: Choose Your Focus (15 min)

You can't optimize everything at once. (Trust me, I’ve tried.)

Pick 3–5 life areas that matter most right now.

Ask yourself: "Would I rather have X or Y?"

Example:

  1. Health: Without stability and energy, nothing else is possible.

  2. Financial Stability: Secure my basics so I can pursue creative work freely.

  3. Creativity: Build my skills in design and art as part of my bigger life pivot.

 

Session 5: Options and Goals

Step 1: Explore Career Paths

If you're considering a career pivot:

  • Brainstorm 2–5 realistic options.

  • Evaluate each: How does it impact your finances, lifestyle, and personal growth?

 

Step 2: Set Tangible 2025 Goals (1 hour)

Examples:

  • Health: Exercise twice a week. Mix it up with yoga, hiking, and dance.

  • Work: Land a remote Product Manager role at a mission-driven company.

  • Creativity: Publish one design project per month.

👉🏽 Keep your goals specific but flexible. It's okay to iterate.

 

Bonus: Stay Adaptable

Life planning isn't about locking yourself into a rigid map. It's about giving yourself a compass.

You'll change. Your dreams will too. That's the point.

Set checkpoints throughout the year—every quarter or so—to revisit, refine, and realign.
